Purpose

Methodology
The 2007 Charitable Giving and Volunteering Survey was a telephone survey of residents in Kalamazoo County and the State of Michigan. The 2007 Charitable Giving-Volunteering Survey included 43 questions on a variety of topics, including volunteering and charitable giving, type of organizations respondents volunteer for or make contributions to, as well as demographic information. The questions included various types of formats including yes/no, pre-defined choices and open-ended response.
A total of 400 completed surveys were obtained from Kalamazoo County residents. A total of 600 completed surveys were obtained from residents of the State of Michigan. The sampling method used for this survey was random-digit dialing of telephone numbers with area telephone prefixes.
The survey interviewing took place in April 2007, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on weekdays.
