Research Analyst
General Description:
Perspectives Consulting Group, Inc. is a market research and strategic planning company that provides clients information for marketing and management. The Research Analyst is responsible for specifying, analyzing and reporting on primary and secondary research data collected for project-specific purposes.
The primary function of the research analyst is to review data and develop specific and objective conclusions based on the data, and to communicate the results of the data and conclusions in the form of a report. Examples of common types of research data include telephone and mail surveys, focus groups, database information, secondary literature/articles and client‐provided data such as sales records, production logs, etc. While the Research Analyst is not expected to individually complete all research activities, they will work in a team effort with the Director of Analysis and Reporting as an integral part in the design and development of the research activities. In addition to projects, the research analyst may work on administrative and special projects for Perspectives Consulting Group, Inc.
The Research Analyst is a part-time position located in Troy, MI. A requirement of 24 to 30 hours per week is mandatory.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Director of Analysis and Reporting in specifying and determining the information and research needs for a project and procuring the required information. This may involve library research, telephone interviews, focus groups, or surveys. While the research analyst may not personally conduct all research, knowledge of research techniques and benefits, and the ability to explain the techniques and benefits to clients and consultants is necessary.
- Analyzing and developing solid, rational conclusions from a variety of different data sources, including surveys, interviews, focus groups and secondary research. The Research Analyst will be expected to use standard analysis procedures, including statistics, with computer programs like spreadsheets, databases and statistical packages. The ability to organize data and develop logical methods to analyze data is essential.
- Writing and producing a variety of written reports, normally at the conclusion of the research stages of the project. Includes the basic text of the report, graphics and presentation visuals, charts and other exhibits. The ability to integrate the project information in a simple, easily understood format is essential.
- Locating supporting information for projects using secondary research such as the Internet and other sources
Mandatory Requirements:
- Above-average computer literacy - ability to use basic and advanced features of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, and SPSS. Understanding and knowledge of Adobe Indesign is helpful, but not a requirement.
- Proficiency and confidence in telephone communications.
- Understanding of market research and statistics, with familiarity in basic marketing and management concepts.
- Self-starter, work well with minimal supervision, with proven ability to guide projects to completion both independently and in a team-setting.
- Above average oral and written communication skills, including confidence in personal presentations and client communication.
Required Experience and Training:
Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor’s degree in a business area. Previous experience in data analysis and project report writing is helpful, but not essential.
